What is Atelier Méïzou?
Méïzou accessories are made in a small workshop in the Cévennes region, in France. Surrounded by greenery, fauna and flora, the designer Marine Franiatte creates caring design objects from her original illustrations, in her Cévennes hamlet.
The woods used to make the unique pieces come exclusively from France and Germany. The different solid woods give rise to a palette of colors: beech, pear, walnut... Each piece is fashioned from a beautiful color chart of several types of natural wood. The wood is then very often left natural in order to enhance its beautiful color variations and give a unique rendering according to its veins.
The laser cutting of the pieces gives access to a meticulous level of detail, allowing the exact transcription of the adorable illustrations created by Marine. Painting and assembly are handmade.
Each piece is then sanded rigorously in order to obtain a very soft touch and well rounded edges. The pieces are then passed under a thin layer of French organic linseed oil, to protect them over time and bring out their beautiful details and the hues of the woods.
